Another Bloodbowl team completed as part of a commission. This set is from Impact Miniatures. They’ve been a bit of a battle to be honest. They’re cast from “Trollcast”, which I’d never heard before checking out the website. I’m not a fan of the material, it sort of accepts primer (they came to me with a layer of peeling primer on them). Plus it’s really brittle and not very strong. This “feature” combined with a heap of single legged supported meant there were a couple of ankle breaks. Because I pinned these to make the repair, the irony is now that these are the strong miniatures.
The casts are also not great, you may all recognise the IP they’re skirting around which is pretty cool. But the miniatures are all pretty same-ish. That’s why I gave them different base rings to denote the different Orc positions (Red=Blitzer, Green=Blocker, Yellow=Thrower, Grey=Linemen, Black=Other). They’re 3D printed, and not at a very high resolution. I think I’ve done enough work to make that disappear, but it’s been difficult.
I don’t know whether this is just a bad example and the other Impact Miniatures teams are better. However, I’m not going to rush out and pick any up.
The scheme was based on the original IP, but I’ve brightened up the colours a bit to make them not so drab. The flesh colours are simplified versions of Orc State.
